I have dozens (if not 100s) of photos of my coffee at the Steady State Roasting cafe (2nd iteration). It was a ten-minute walk from my apartment. The right amount of time to walk in the cool coastal air. I always looked forward to chatting at the register, drinking an excellent cup of drip, or even a fancy drink. The space is an excellent representation of the founder and his partner's passion for precision and warmth for humanity.
Steady State is the first place I ventured when I started to re-engage with humanity after the worst days of the onset of COVID-19. It is where I would go when I needed to think, where I would go when friends came to visit, where I would take the dog for a bit of human interaction, and sometimes where I'd meet guests for the Coffee People podcast.
When he was first roasting, Founder Elliot Reinecke used to make Aeropress-ed coffees on the side of the bike path for a group of riders in Encinitas. It was a test run of sorts for the hospitality to come. We also ate donuts.
He was one of the first guests on our podcast and an early sponsor of this show. I spent most of that sponsorship money on coffee from Steady State Roasting.
